What it actually costs to run a table

The ongoing monthly expenses that keep a table live — split into fixed costs (stay the same regardless of play) and variable costs (scale with how much the table is used). Assumes 3 hours of daily play at $30/hr, with 1.5 pitchers of beer sold per hour.

Expense categoryCost typeMonthly amountCalculation notes
Amortized Hardware CostFixed$138.89$5,000 upfront table price spread over a 3-year expected lifecycle.
Maintenance & App SupportFixed$50.00Software updates, network connectivity, and general wear-and-tear reserves.
Electricity & LED PowerFixed$25.00Power draw from dual tracking screens, embedded sensors, and LED under-lighting.
App Operator Fee SplitVariable$810.00The 30% network cut on gross game play fees ($2,700 total monthly play revenue).
Beverage COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)Variable$675.00Cost of actual inventory (alcohol, cups) assuming a standard 25% pour cost on $2,700 of monthly beverage sales.
Total combined monthly outflowFixed + variable$1,698.89The total baseline cost to keep the asset operational.

The bottom line: $5,400 gross monthly revenue minus $1,698.89 in total expenses leaves $3,701.11 in net monthly profit at a modest 3 hours of daily play — breaking even on the $5,000 table in under 45 days.

Low-risk scalability

Because the bulk of your expenses are variable — the 30% network split and the cost of the beer — your exposure on a slow month is remarkably low. If nobody plays, your variable expenses drop to zero, leaving you with less than $215 in fixed overhead for the month.

The real capital expensing

The PONGDIRECT table hardware contains proprietary RFID grids and structural sensors. If you run a revenue-share lease instead of buying upfront for $5,000, the amortized hardware row disappears — but the operator fee split typically climbs from a 30% split to a 50% split.

Total margin retention

Even after the network split and your beverage pour costs, a single table at a modest 3 hours per day captures $3,701.11 in net monthly profit ($5,400 gross minus $1,698.89 total expenses). The upfront $5,000 investment clears break-even in under 45 days.

Frequently asked

What does it actually cost to get a table on my floor?+

If you own it: the self-contained table runs $4,995. The LED rails, RFID sensors, and digital scoreboard are all built in — there's no separate TV or stand to buy. Then budget roughly $20–$30 per week for the live network. If you run a revenue split, your upfront is $0 — we cover the hardware, network, and maintenance.

Do I need to buy a TV or stand separately?+

No. Unlike a Golden Tee cabinet that ships without a display, PONGDIRECT is a fully self-contained table — the LED rails, digital scoreboard, and sensors are built into the table itself. It rolls in and plugs in; there's nothing extra to source or mount.

Is the weekly network fee really required?+

Only if you want the table live on the global network — tournaments, live stats, app & NFC tap-to-pay, and automatic software updates all ride on it. On the revenue-split plan the operator covers it. On a direct purchase it runs roughly $20–$30 per week.

How does the revenue split actually work?+

We install and maintain the table at $0 upfront and split the weekly coin and card revenue — typically 50/50. You keep pure profit with no maintenance, network, or update overhead. Most slow-weeknight and back-room setups start here.

What about payment processing on the table?+

When players pay by credit card or NFC mobile tap-to-pay, standard payment-processing fees apply per transaction. On the revenue-split plan we handle processing; on a direct purchase it runs through your venue account.

How fast can we get a table?+

Direct purchase typically ships in 7–14 business days. Revenue-split installs usually book on two weeks notice, subject to operator availability in your region. Event rentals book on two weeks notice, inventory permitting.
