Frequently Asked

Every question, answered

From how the RFID sensors score a cup to how a bar leases a table — the full breakdown for players and venue owners alike.

Player FAQs

Everything a patron needs to know before they scan the table.

How does the table know when a cup is hit?+

The system utilizes integrated RFID sensors and weight-detection grids embedded beneath each cup position on the table. When a ball lands in a cup or a cup is removed, the table instantly detects the change and updates the digital scoreboard automatically.

Is the companion mobile app free?+

Yes. The player app is completely free to download on iOS and Android. It is only used to scan table QR codes, handle game payments, customize player profiles, and track your global leaderboard rankings.

Do I have to buy drinks through the app?+

No. The app only processes the fee to physically activate and play on the table. All food, beer pitchers, and cocktail purchases are handled normally through the bar's standard POS system or waitstaff.

What game modes are available?+

Aside from traditional 10-cup beer pong, the software features multiple game variations including "Combo Mode" (which rewards consecutive hits), speed challenges, and custom countdown variations designed to speed up table turnover.

Venue & Bar Owner FAQs

Operations, durability, and how the table fits your floor.

Can the table withstand spilled drinks?+

Yes. The table is built specifically for nightlife environments. The top layer features commercial-grade waterproofing to protect the internal LED matrix and electronic sensors from heavy spills, splashes, and standard bar wear-and-tear.

How does the table connect to the global network?+

The table features built-in Wi-Fi and ethernet capabilities. It must remain connected to the venue's internet to sync player data, stream live scores to the local LED screens, and process payments.

Can a bar customize the game rules or pricing?+

Yes. Through the venue management backend, bar owners can set their own pricing (per-game or hourly), adjust the automated "house rules" (like redemption or re-racks), and toggle specific game modes on or off depending on the crowd.

How do automated tournaments work?+

Venues can use the software backend to launch bracket-style tournaments. The table handles the matchmaking, tracks player stats, and pushes updates directly to the app, allowing the bar staff to run large events without needing a dedicated tournament referee.

Physical & Technical Specs

Dimensions, weight, and the hardware that makes it tick.

What are the official dimensions of the table?+

The table strictly adheres to international beer pong regulation sizing: 240 cm (94.5 inches) long, 80 cm (30.7 inches) wide, and stands 78 cm to 90 cm (35.4 inches) high depending on base configurations.

What are the cup and ball sizes?+

The proprietary sensor holes are calibrated for standardized cups measuring 12 cm high with a 9.25 cm rim diameter. Standard beer pong balls must have a 3.95 cm diameter to ensure the automated tracking triggers accurately.

How heavy is the table and is it portable?+

The heavy-duty, bar-stable electronic chassis scales the core structural weight up significantly compared to cheap folding tables, but the modular frame breaks down for shipping and logistics.

How do the audio and visual components work?+

The table is equipped with a completely illuminated internal LED matrix that animates during hits, streak milestones, or game completions. Sound effects are pushed through four built-in commercial speakers mounted directly into the table chassis.

What kind of display screens are built into the hardware?+

Each end of the table features an integrated LED Display Screen that feeds real-time accuracy percentages, active player profiles, current point totals, and achievement badges to the players.

Software & Gameplay Modes

The operating system behind every match.

What are the different game modes I can play?+

The operating system moves beyond standard elimination to offer four core modes: Classic (traditional 10-cup elimination rule set), Combo Out (a fast-paced mode that rewards scaling score multipliers for sinking consecutive shots in a row), and Count Up / Challenge (point-based arcade target modes built to test speed and pinpoint precision against strict timers).

Does the sensor system require specialized cups or water?+

The system relies on internal weight grids and custom RFID sensor metrics to notice a cup change. Cups must have liquid in them (water or beer) to register properly against the base pressure calibration.

How does the table resolve disputes?+

Because the table tracks ball-in entry data via immediate hardware triggers, human scoring disputes are fully eliminated. The table registers exactly which cup was hit the second the ball settles.

Can house rules (like bounces or redemption) be customized?+

Yes. Venue administrators can access the table's digital operating system backend to toggle house rules like "Redemption/Re-rack" styles or alter timer limits depending on how fast they need the crowd to turn over tables.

App & Player Accounts

Pairing, ranking, and playing without a phone.

How do I link my smartphone to a live table?+

Players download the free PONGDIRECT app. When approaching an open table, you use the app's camera interface to scan the active QR code displayed on the table's LED screens, which instantly pairs your profile to that side of the court.

How does the global ranking system work?+

Every match played on an online-connected table logs your win/loss ratio, shooting accuracy percentage, and scoring streaks. This data updates a global server, adjusting your rank on international leaderboards alongside players in the UK, Asia, and the US.

Can I play without a smartphone?+

Yes. Tables can be booted into a "Guest/Local" mode directly by the venue bartender or referee, allowing casual players to play a quick match without saving their long-term stats to the global database.

Commercial & Venue Purchasing

Buying, connecting, and leasing options for operators.

How much does an official table cost to buy?+

For residential buyers or commercial venues buying outright, used or older-generation models occasionally surface on commercial secondary markets for around $2,100 to $2,250. Factory-fresh enterprise models with full commercial backend support must be quoted directly via our commercial distribution network.

What internet connection does the hardware require?+

The table contains internal wireless and wired network cards. It requires a stable Wi-Fi or hardwired Ethernet connection to maintain network verification, handle player digital payments, and stream profile data to and from global servers.

Is there a rental/leasing framework for bars?+

Yes. PONGDIRECT offers revenue-share leasing setups for qualified nightlife venues. Instead of paying several thousand dollars upfront, the local network operator drops the table in for free or a low baseline fee, and the bar splits a higher percentage of the ongoing digital pay-to-play revenue generated by the table.
